It is getting closer, my favourite time of the year. I love RAMADAN! It is the best. Most people do not fully understand the meaning of Ramadan, well let me just copy and paste from the internet :
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset. It is a time of fasting for the Islamic people. Each day during this month, Muslims all over the world abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, as well as participating in anything that is ill-natured or excessive; from dawn until the sun sets. Fasting is intended to educate the Muslim in spirituality, humility and patience. It is a time to cleanse the soul, focus attention on God, and put into practice selflessness. Ramadan is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God and to put forward more prayer than is customary.
Each day before dawn, Muslims observe a pre-fast meal called suhoor. After stopping a short time before dawn, Muslims begin the first prayer of the day, the Fajr prayer. At sunset, families hasten for the fast-breaking meal known as iftar. Charity is very important in Islam, and even more so during Ramadan. Zakat, often translated as “the poor-rate”, is obligatory as one of the pillars of Islam; a fixed percentage is required to be given to the poor of the person’s savings. Sadaqa is voluntary charity in given above and beyond what is required from the obligation of Zakat. In Islam all good deeds are more handsomely rewarded in Ramadan than in any other month of the year.
I love Ramadan. It is such a spiritual moment and draws me closer to myself and God. I tend to understand myself better, I do not to hurt anyone’s feelings and during this time 😉 .Ramadan is amazing, it is just a feeling I can’t explain. I am not a religious fanatic, but I love my religion. I keep to what is true and do not let others confuse me, I do not listen to the world’s version of my Religion and sometimes I wish people will just take a minute or 2 to learn more about such a PEACEFUL and heartfelt Religion.
Ramadan is such a special moment, Muslims all over share, are selfless and you can literally walk into a strangers home to eat during this season (wish it was all the time though). It is a time to reflect on a lot of things and decide which ones please God and your fellow Man.
I try to give to charity once in a while. This time around I promise to do more. I am super emotional and I hate to see people suffer, especially old people ( I am tearing up just writing that ). I wish I was with my Grandma, it is always special fasting at my Grandma’s. She’s the best and I like the fact that she still looks out for me and says I am her favourite 😉 . I miss a lot of things about Ramadan, but I know I am growing and need to find ways of spicing it up myself.
I know non-Muslims who fast, and believe it is such a serene month, and everyone should try it. Oh, and during this time too people pretend to be Muslims and pray and fast because they want their blessings to be doubled. Look out for the fake ones too 😀 .
HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN! HAPPY RAMADAN!
